It appears as though yesterday’s mystery teaser for the upcoming Spike TV Video Game Awards, featuring a CGI scene of a war in Dubai, is actually not the newest teaser in the world. Revealed back in August, the clip is said to be from upcoming 2K Games franchise reboot Spec Ops.
Originally, the title was claimed by EGM rumor mill “Quartermann” to be in development in the shuttered magazine’s July 2008 issue. 1UP claims the title to be confirmed by the 90-second teaser trailer that we’ve dropped after the break. We’d suggest checking it out simply for the fact that it contains more footage than the teaser from yesterday, but the fact that Björk is involved makes us all the more inclined to recommend a viewing. For those of you thirsting for more, your next chance to see the game will be at 2009’s world exclusive-filled VGAs. We’ve contacted 2K Games for comment and will update this post if we hear more.
Zombie obliterators who’ve managed to survive Left 4 Dead 2’s “Dark Carnival” campaign are probably familiar with the Southern rock outfit known as the Midnight Riders. While they’re not exactly an enormous focus in the game’s overarching story, a teaser page featuring the heavily bearded band (and a cryptic “Coming Soon”) is leading some folks to believe that the Riders will soon play a much larger role in the game’s proceedings.
Given the number of facial hair-sporting members of the band (see: four), we’re really hoping to get some form of DLC that turns them into playable characters. Perhaps even a new campaign, in which they cure the global zombie infection using nothing but the power of their rock music. How about it, Valve?
When we say “NCsoft” it usually brings to mind their big, highly-promoted titles like City of Heroes, Aion, and Guild Wars. However, NCsoft enjoys quite a bit of popularity in their home country of Korea, and a lot of people are looking forward to another upcoming title. Blade and Soul hasn’t enjoyed the worldwide hype that some other NCsoft titles have, but it’s still got an excited fan base looking forward to it.
News for eager fans has been on the skimpy side, with the biggest announcement lately being a recent mention from the NCsoft CEO Jaeho Lee: “I believe there will be certain public events in the year 2010… at least a closed beta test for those titles. Commercialisation will be expected, at this point, probably some time in the year 2011.”
Yesterday NCsoft delivered a little surprise via Twitter for those anticipating Blade and Soul: a teaser trailer is coming soon, and a 30-second teaser is available now. Take a look at the teaser after the jump, and we’ll keep an eye out for the full length version for you!
You know, I guarantee by March a lot of us will be tired of or getting tired of MW2. Well, all I have to say is good thing Bad Company 2 is coming out. The game’s multiplayer looks fantastic. Have a look for yourself.
On Monday, we brought you an awfully official-looking teaser trailer for a follow-up to American McGee’s Alice, which was announced in February. Now, via his blog, McGee is debunking the cool stop-motion clip, saying, “I wanted to clear up any confusion … it was unofficial, and does not represent any of the final art direction or story elements in Alice 2.” It’s worth noting that when we attempted to verify the clip’s authenticity on Monday, we tracked the site (the now-missing www.returnofalice.com) back to American McGee, so the confusion is pretty understandable.
The “fan” that created the video, Troy Morgan, is an accomplished artist who has worked with the developer in the past. Morgan says he created the ad on spec as an ad pitch to EA, though it appears not to have been picked up. It’s a pity, because the clip was just starting to get us excited for a return to (evil) Wonderland.
