We don’t live in Brazil, but from what we hear, it’s not one of the most gamer-friendly places out there. Piracy runs rampant and whenever any kindof controversial game releases, citizens usually find their government won’t let ‘em play it. But, hey, things are kinda looking up!
Reader Renato wrote in to us saying the PS2 has finallyofficially released in Brazil and that consumers can get it from the Sony Style store now … for the low, low price of 799 BRL (about 461 USD). That’s right, Brazilians no longer need secure safe passage for emigrating consoles or pay ridiculous sums of money to third-party distributors and can instead pay ridiculous sums of money directly to Sony for a locally-supported PS2! Isn’t that awesome?
Congratulations to Serge808 on being the first to comment. You’ve been emailed a free Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta code. All beta codes have been awarded.Click here, for more information on this giveaway. Official rules apply.
This seems like a PS3 fit for a King or Queen. Computer-Choppers, a company that provides “luxury customization services” for computers, phones, laptops, etc has created a PS3 Slim that was dipped in 24 karat gold.
You would probably have to pay a hefty sum of money for this bad boy. 24K iPhones start at $1,399. Given the size and amount of gold needed for the PS3, I would say you can probably expect to see a price take of over $9000!
There will only be 5 of these made, so yeah, they will probably expensive. We’ve contacted Computer-Choppers for any information and some additional screen shots. Should they provide us with any additional information or screen shots, we will update you. For now all you get is that picture to your left(click to enlarge…that’s what she said)
Over at the Playstation Blog, the awesome Gordan Van Dyke has announced details of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta. The beta is coming exclusively to the Playstation 3 on November 19. The full release is due out in March 2010.
Here are the different ways that gamers can be a part of the beta:
* We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
* Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
* Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America (and hopefully here!).
Much like the XBL avatars getting Halloween costumes, so is the Playstation Home. It seems unlike M$ which is charging 280ms pts per costume, the ones on the Playstation home will be free of charge. I’m not sure who actually will use these, but they look words better than the avatar costumes, that’s for sure. I personally would go with that Warewolf costume, it looks pretty badass.
The costumes are part of an event from 6-8pm (GMT) on 31st October 2009 within the Burn Zombie Burn section of the PS Home. All those dressed in their costumes will receive a trick or treat on their arrival to the event. I wonder what kinds of tricks and treats they will be giving away.
A recent press release announced that next month, PS3 owners will now be able to enjoy Netflix on their PS3 consoles. Many rumors of this happening flew around for a while, but now it is finally true. Right from the XMB, PS3 owners will now have access to all the movies and TV shows Netflix offers via it’s instant queue/watch now feature. Naturally you will need to be a member of Netflix in order to use this feature. (duh.)
The press release stated that Netflix coming to PS3 “solidifies the PS3 system as the most complete home entertainment hub on the market today.” While Netflix is a great addition and the PS3 does has blu-ray, don’t go forgetting about the 360. Although, the 360 just lost something that was an exclusive feature, and a good one to.
While I’m sure this will make a lot of fanboys upset they can’t use this against PS3 anymore, one can only wonder if the Wii is next for Netflix.
