Well, Microsoft wasn’t kidding when they said they were going to be cracking down. The banhammer has been dropped on 600,000 users, mostly for modding and piracy. Microsoft says they are aiming to increase that number of bans to 1 million by the end of the holiday season.
It seems though that Microsoft’s call centers have been getting lit up by people complaining about their bans,
Our office has gone to hell, People have been calling in around the clock and most of them are screaming teen-agers who don’t understand the terms of use that comes with the console they bought.
Well, if you do the crime, you’re gonna do the time people.

Well, that seems like the sort of thing I’d expect to hear from Microsoft. Although, I have to say, it’s awfully nice of Microsoft for doing something like this for its users. The Live Rewards program will allow live users to to earn Microsoft points for renewing live subscriptions, taking surveys, signing up for Netflix, etc.

= MICROSOFT® POINTS
*IN MICROSOFT POINTS 1% DURING MONTH 1, 2% DURING MONTH 2, 3% DURING MONTH 3, 4% DURING MONTH 4, 5% DURING MONTH 5, AND 5% DURING MONTH 6. THIS REWARD IS BASED ON STAYING GOLD FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROMOTION.
**PURCHASE CAN INCLUDE ANY SELECTION OF PAID CONTENT INCLUDING MOVIES, TV SHOWS, GAME ADD-ONS, ARCADE GAMES, GAMES ON DEMAND TITLES, THEMES, AND AVATARS.
The “Reward Central” will be broken into different tiers. There will be different rewards for different tiers. The different tiers are Orange(the highest), Green(middle), Gray(lowest). You will have received an e-mail if you got into the program and it will tell you which level you are. I wonder how they determine what tier you are in.
Microsoft says “The best part is, the more you spend, the more you get,” So get spending and hope to earn some Microsoft points! Ohh yeah, it has also been said that there could be restrictions on the Microsoft points and when you can spend them and how you can spend them.
Well, thanks for the cool rewards program Microsoft!

Getting tired of your Guitar Hero controller collecting dust? Have no fear, Tecmo and Pieces Interactive are here! The two are working on an Xbox live arcade title called Fret Nice. The game will be a platformer that will use the Guitar Hero controller and is set to release next year sometime.
Johan Hellberg who is the CEO of Pieces Interactive had this to say,
We felt sorry for gamers who bought a guitar only to be used for pure music games, so we made a platform game for them! Fret Nice is the perfect blend of two worlds
Well Johan, thanks for taking pity on us and coming up with this unique and interesting idea. I for one know I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. We will give you more information as it becomes available.

With The Ballad of Gay Tony set to release this week, Xbox live is there to help celebrate the event. On top of many things like, “Game with the Devs” and the “GTA All Nighter” this weekend, Xbox Live will be free for all non-gold members who play GTA IV, The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. That sounds pretty sweet to me. The Ballad of Gay Tony is set to release tomorrow, October 29th. Hope to see most of you on GTA this weekend for some base jumping and APC action!

NOTE: The Source had no source…this MIGHT not be true. I could not find anything on Major Nelson’s, or Rockstar’s sites, or Xbox.com about this (yet).
