Nexon is bringing plenty of news from the land of MapleStory lately, from new player perks to holiday events to pets.
For starters, those venturing into MapleStory for the first time will enjoy the First Job event. Players now have five classes to choose from (Thief, Pirate, Magician, Bowman, and Warrior), each with its own quest line and boss.
New players and experienced players alike will enjoy the cash back event, running from now until November 29th. Players will earn 10-15% back, depending on what they spend. Looking for something to spend all this cash on? If you’re a pet lover, permanent pets will be available in the shop for a limited time — you can choose from a Kino, a White Tiger, or a Mini Yeti.
Finally, Thanksgiving is approaching in MapleStory and the turkeys there aren’t the kind that are served with stuffing and cranberry sauce. These turkeys come in the form of invading “turkey commandos” that you will attack in the hopes that they will drop their eyes. Turkey Commando Eyes can be given to Professor Foxwit in exchange for mesos, so happy hunting!
Check out the official site for all the information on the upcoming events.

A number of EVE Online fans who’ve needed their podcast fix have been tuning in to Planet Risk in recent months, a great mix of music and commentary from players who spend most of their EVE time exploring the uncharted expanses of wormhole space. Planet Risk is a live show that airs on Split Infinity Radio on Wednesdays; hosts Luminus Aardokay and Quivering Palm make Planet Risk available as a podcast afterwards and we recommend you check it out if you haven’t already. Today’s show should be interesting as they will host a debate between four candidates for EVE’s next Council of Stellar Management, the player-elected body that represents the wishes of the subscribers when dealing with CCP and how EVE Online is evolving.
We mentioned last week that the 4th CSM candidates have been announced but not everyone in the running had their positions on issues fleshed out in time for the CCP announcement. Since that day, more info about the 49 candidates is becoming available (thanks for pointing this out Darth Sith). Today’s debate on Planet Risk will have CSM candidates TeaDaze (known to many for his commentary during the Alliance Tournament), Song Li (from the Missions Collide podcast), Helen Highwater and Mike Azariah.

While not everyone in the world celebrates it, today is Halloween for many of us! Time for tricks and treats, spooks and silliness. It’s also a fantastic time to catch up on the holiday events in our favorite games. From going after the Sinister Squashling in World of Warcraft (again) to smacking down hordes of the Infected in Fallen Earth, there’s tons and tons of content to be had for the holiday.
This morning, we thought we’d ask you what Halloween event you liked the most – and which have you come to hate? Personally, I loved Trick-or-Treating in City of Heroes, racing up and down the street triggering doors, pounding bad guys with friends, and trying to land all the temporary costumes. The one that drove me nuts was trying to get the aforementioned Squashling in World of Warcraft, as the drop never seemed to happen when I was around. (I did dig the broom mount, though.) Let’s hear from you on which you thought were best and worst! Drop your tricks and treats in MMO merriment into our commenty space below!
