Mad Catz Interactive, a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, has this week announced the expansion of its relationship with Capcom to produce branded controllers and accessories based on the forthcoming Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars video game for the Wii in North America.

“We are delighted with our partnership with Capcom, and we are excited to expand the relationship with this new license,” said Darren Richardson, president and chief executive officer of Mad Catz. “As we have with our very successful Street Fighter IV accessories, we look forward to bringing fighting games fans on the Wii platform a range of distinctive, high-quality accessories that enhance the game-playing experience of Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.”

The game is due to be released for the Wii on 29th January 2010, so presumably the Mad Catz peripherals will also be available on or soon after the release date.

Remember when Mega Man 9 came out and everyone was excited that Capcom was bringing back an old classic? Well take that reaction and multiply it by ten because Capcom is bringing Mega Man back again for his tenth installment, and this time they are mixing it up a bit.

This news comes straight from Nintendo Power, and it details the changes that are coming for our hero.

Some of the major changes coming to the game include an Easy mode, as well as a choice of three characters to play as. Capcom has revealed both Mega Man and Proto Man as playable, but are keeping the third character under wraps. However, the controls and style of the game won’t change from the way we all know and love.

Along with the article comes information about a single boss, Sheep Man, who when you defeat will obtain his weapon, known as Thunder Wool, which will float and release an electric burst.

Even from the small amount of information revealed it’s clear that Mega Man 10 is attempting to make the game more accessible, as evident by changes like the Easy mode.

Jill Valentine knows what’s up: Only the most refined individual understands the elegance of the crank. Chris Redfield and his personal gun show may complain that an entire mansion is being run on the archaic device in this teaser for upcoming Resident Evil 5 DLC episode, Lost in Nightmares, but that’s because the dude doesn’t respect the crank’s noble history. We’re just glad one of the two survivalists has enough class to acknowledge the significance of history’s great gate opener.

Capcom has today announced that three classic Ace Attorney™ games are due for release via WiiWare™ in early 2010, starting with the game that kicked off the whole series, Phoenix Wright™: Ace Attorney™ (Episodes 1 through 4). That release will then be followed by Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations.

The Ace Attorney games are hugely popular in both Japan and the West, with the franchise selling over 3.7 million units worldwide. This will be the first time an Ace Attorney game has appeared on a home console. Fans will get the chance to play as defence attorney Phoenix Wright as he weaves his way through the maze of the justice system. You will get to collect evidence, listen to testimonies and face up to hidden corruption, all in the pursuit of justice and the truth. The storyline of the first game in the series, which is due for release on WiiWare in early 2010, sees Phoenix Wright defending his childhood friend Larry Butz, who is facing a murder rap. Fans will eventually be able to download the bonus episode featured in the original Nintendo DS™ version of the game.

The second game in the series, Justice For All, will be released digitally in Spring 2010, as the action resumes with a much more experienced Phoenix now having five court victories to celebrate. However, he faces his biggest challenge so far when ruthless new D.A. Franziska von Karma muscles her way into town bent on extracting revenge against him.

The third game, Trials and Tribulations, will be available for download some time in 2010. In it, Phoenix faces off against the mysterious prosecutor Godot, who has no intention of letting Phoenix stand in the way of his plans.

Capcom held a university-themed event Tuesday evening in San Francisco to introduce newcomers to the Monster Hunter universe in the runup to next spring’s North American release of Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. We’d already played the game at previous events, so we knew what to expect: Monster Hunter, looking nice (especially the large monsters) but not as nice as it could have on the PS3.

After spending some time with the three-level, English-localized trade show demo on-hand — including a go using the very nice Classic Controller Pro, which is included in Japan’s black system/game bundle — we asked Capcom staff about two unsettled questions concerning the game’s US release. The first was the matter of paying to play Monster Hunter Tri online, as the game eschews Nintendo’s servers for Capcom-operated ones and is fee-based in Japan. We didn’t receive a decisive answer, being told only that the publisher is “hoping” the game will be free to play in the US. We got a similar response when we wondered if Wii Speak support was 100% set for the domestic release — Capcom’s “hoping” to get it in, but couldn’t promise anything.

The event did provide taste of what trying to coordinate a successful online monster hunt would be like without Wii Speak — we found it nearly impossible to hear our fellow players (or the game) over the music being piped through the venue’s formidable sound system.
