"Bond....James Bond" February 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the latest James Bond game of the century. It is like the other old James Bond games.(Goldeneye,Tomorrow never dies, The world is not enough). It tells what else games bond is doing in the movie because it has some missions that are in the movie. But it also haves missions that are not in the movie. And also, instead of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond it is the original games bond,Sean Connery. So,if you liked the movie, you'd like this amazing transfer of a video game.
This could be better, but it's still a lot of fun August 31, 2007 Here's a series of shooting and driving missions, loosely based on the early Bond joint "From Russia with Love."
So you get to be Connery's Bond, wearing a cool Saville Row suit and carrying a Walther and driving a stone cold Aston Martin.
Unfortunately, there are severe limitations with the game. You can't skip the cut-scenes; you can't save individual stages of a mission; and most crucially you don't get a lot of freedom of mobility within the virtual world -- you can't even JUMP unless you're in front of a prompt to do so.
But weird touches make this game surprisingly addictive.
You've got a wealth of weapons to choose from (shotguns, .44 Magnums, tricked-out watches and cuff-links and a serum gun that causes enemy victims to go all "28 Days Later" and attack other enemies). Having so many options means you can plan complex strategies within your attack.
Also, some of the challenges are laughably easy while others are ridiculously hard -- Tatiana may be a babe in the original movie but in the game, when you have to protect her in order to win and she keeps running in front of your shot (screaming "help me, James, help me!") she's the most annoying videogame sidekick this side of Lance Vance.
The two-player, head-to-head mode (while lacking AI capability) is also great -- that alone makes this game worth buying if you can get it for cheap. You can fight an opponent in Venice, in a hedge maze, in a huge subway station, in a factory and a couple of other locations. As with the single-player game, there's a wealth of weapons to fight with and it can get really amusing.
I wish "Russia" weren't quite so cumbersome, and I wish the soundtrack made better use of John Barry's score and the signature themesong, but despite the drawbacks, it's still a surprising amount of fun.
My name is Connery... Sean Connery! August 1, 2007 Nothing against Pierce Brosnon, But there's too much of him in james bond already with the PS2, I'm glad to finally see a sean connery one! This game is pretty much like all the other james bond games, You shoot bad guys, Drive expensive cars, Fight bosses... And so on. Very challenging And fun! Might I say that the graphics were impressive, especially Sean Connery & Robert Shaw, They look so real it's almost scary! Take a journey with 007. If you got the guts to! (just kidding)
Best Bond Game I've Ever Played February 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
From Russia With Love is a great game, plain and simple. First off, the whole game is in third person, which I love. The weapons and gadgets available are very diverse. Plus, the variety of missions keeps the game from getting boring. For example, there are driving missions, boat missions, jetpack missions, and your regular run n' gun missions. The targeting system is dead on and really quite fun. Many people say that the game is too easy, but I disagree. Just play every mission on the 007 difficulty level and you'll be fine. Just the right mix of difficulty and diverse mix of missions makes for a great game. Plus the voice acting and cut scenes are great. I highly recommend this game.
not bad December 22, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i remember nightfire for PC being more fun, but this game's easily miles ahead of "everything or nothing" and "agent under fire." the graphics are far superior, there's stealth mode and attacks.. i just got bored of it quickly, because to me the game just felt "average." ok so there's a stealth mode.. but if you want stealth, why not play hitman or metal gear solid? the shooting control is pretty good, but i don't like how you have to hit another button to zoom in on the enemy. then there's circles around special spots to shoot the enemy on which is just plain weird. it's an average action/shooting game which is more than i can say for most bond games.
