No, that isn’t your high school gym teacher (pictured right), that’s Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo and he’s joining with Nintendo to help launch the upcoming Pop-centric music title, Band Hero. Tomorrow, November 1, beginning at 11AM (EDT) at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Plaza, players will have a chance to play both the Nintendo Wii and DS versions of the game before lining up for an exclusive autograph session with the singer from 3PM to 4PM.
Need more incentive to join the party? The first fifty players in line will walk away with a pre-release copy of the game to call their own and other random giveaways. Finally, you yourself can interrupt your sister’s Taylor Swift karaoke sessions in homage to Kanye West’s VMA performance. We call that, “emergent gameplay.”
The most notable item on the list is Gearbox Software’s Borderlands, debuting at (a disappointing) ninth on the list. Perhaps evidence that inventory shortages may in fact muck up the wheels of a critically acclaimed game’s launch. Color us surprised … then trace us with sarcasm.
According to a Remedy managing director Matias Myllyrinne, the studio wants to discuss the possibility of leaving the ending of its upcoming thriller Alan Wake off discs sent to press with its publisher, Microsoft. “I think we’re going to be insanely careful about how much of the story we reveal,” Myllyrinne told G4TV. “I’d like to hold it back, [I] don’t want anybody to spoil it for the audience. That’s just my personal feeling.”
Using the twist ending of The Sixth Sense as an analogy, Myllrinne says he’d prefer players be able to piece together the secrets of Bright Falls on their own before having them spoiled by others. Although admirable, his analogy can only mean one of two things: Alan Wake is dead or he’s Haley Joel Osment. Either way, we’re already terrified.
We tend to treat Halloween like any other holiday when it comes to post content — it’s basically an excuse for us to bombard you with topical links to our favorite holiday-themed corners of the internet. Like this one! And this one. And this one! Let’s not forget this one. And … well, no, that’s one’s just inappropriate. Y’know what? We’re going to leave it at four. That’s a pleasantly round number.
You know what else is a good number? Seven. Hey, that’s how many webcomics we’ve got lined up for your perusal below! Check them out, vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump, then tell us what strips we may have missed out on in the comments section. Happy Halloween!
After success with its Castlevania franchise on the NES, Konami branched out onto the Game Boy with this title:
Yeah…does anyone else feel like Konami owes us an apology? Well, maybe that’s a bit harsh. It wasn’t good, but it was still Castlevania, right? And back then it was manna from Heaven…
Now we’ve got Wii Ware, the Wii’s download service on the Wi Shop Channel. It’s a great place for game publishers to release things that aren’t quite worth the $35 cart tag. And sometimes, you get an absolute gem!
Enter Castlevania: The Do-Over! Oh…sorry…I meant…Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth!
Is anyone as excited for this apology from Konami as I am?
